Poll schedules for Maharashtra and Jharkhand announced
Bye-elections in 48 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats to take place

NATIONAL, October 15, 2024: Assembly elections will be held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand at different dates in November with the counting of votes taking place on November 23. The Election Commission announced the poll schedules for the 288-member Maharashtra assembly and the 81 seats of the Jharkhand assembly Tuesday.
With the announcement the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in both states.
The Commission also announced the schedule for bye-elections in 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats, including Wayanad Parliamentary seat.
The EC has directed enforcement agencies to crack down on the use of money power to ensure free and fair elections. It said prescribed facilities will be available at polling stations, and individuals with disabilities and senior citizens above 85 years can take advantage of the option of home voting.
The Election Commission has appealed to voters in both states to participate in the festival of democracy.
