BSF seizes Yaba tablets worth Rs 44,95,000 in market

AGARTALA, October 17, 2024: The Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a joint operation with local police in the Kamalasagar area of Sepahijala district based on specific intelligence inputs. During the operation, a minor was apprehended for suspicious behavior and found to be in possession of a packet containing 4,495 Yaba tablets worth Rs 44,95,000 in the market.
BSF Tripura sector headquarters in a statement Thursday also informed detention of two Bangladeshi nationals in the Rahimpur area of Kalamchaura in Sepahijala district while attempting to enter Indian territory by crossing the border fence. It said the detainees are residents of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
During the interrogation of these infiltrators, one tout involved in facilitating illegal immigration was also apprehended.
In a separate operation, a Bangladeshi national was caught trying to enter India by crossing the border fence in the Mohanpur BOP area in Sidhai of West district on night of October 16 and 17.
The apprehended individual is a resident of Chapainawabganj district in Bangladesh. In two other joint operations, conducted by the BSF along with GRP Agartala and Tripura Police, three Indian touts involved in facilitating illegal trafficking were arrested.
The statement also mentioned that the BSF has increased vigilance along the border in Tripura and is closely monitoring the activities of touts in order to dismantle their network.
