Police open case against news portal for ‘fake’ news

AGARTALA, July 31 2020: Police launched an investigation against a news website (not indigenousherald.com) following a complaint over fabricated news concerning a Covid-19 patient who succumbed at the isolation ward of the GBP Hospital here.

The news published on July 30 reported disappearance of corpse of the patient and the hospital authority not informing anything to his family.

The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the GBP Hospital clarified that the family of the deceased allowed the hospital authority to conduct his last rites an accordingly cremation of the virus victim was performed.

The MS lodged complaint with the New Capital Complex Police Station against the website for allegedly spread fake and incorrect news with intention to create confusion in society.
