Pijush Biswas is Acting Chief of Tripura PCC

AGARTALA, December 18, 2019: AICC(I) has given interim charge of President of Tripura Pradesh Committee to senior party leader Advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas. The post left vacant after resignation of Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Manikya following a rift with party high command over NRC issue.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal informed appointment of Biswas as Acting President of PCC. The leader was earlier made Chairman of Ad-hoc Committee to look after party affairs.
In a statement Venugopal in a statement state that “Hon’ble Congress President has appointed Pijush Kanti Biswas as the Acting President of Tripura PCC with immediate effect until a full-term President is appointed.
Senior Congress leader and Convenor of Ad-hoc committee Subal Bhowmik has been a strong contender for the position. Sources said AICC(I) is undecided over appointing a full-term President owing to strong lobbying by three different party factions.
