Dhaka fire kills at least 16 people Tuesday evening, scores missing
Fire started in a chemical warehouse, spread to a garments factory

GLOBAL, October 14, 2025: A devastating fire in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka killed at least 16 people Tuesday evening. The fire started in a chemical warehouse and spread to a nearby multi-storey garments factory.
All bodies were recovered from the factory. Relatives are searching for their missing loved ones outside the factory.
The deceased apparently to have suffered severe inhalation from the chemicals as there were highly flammable materials stacked inside. Authorities have yet to enter the chemical warehouse.
In 2021, a fire swept through a food processing factory killing at least 52 people including many children.
