AGARTALA, October 08, 2024: A Bangladeshi intruder was killed by BSF soldiers in a firing incident that took place in Sepahijala district in south Tripura Tuesday. The Tripura Frontier of the BSF has provided a detailed account of the incident in order to dispel any confusion and ensure accurate reporting.
It said a group of Bangladeshi miscreants attempted to smuggle contraband goods in Salpokhar, Sepahijala district. When they were confronted by BSF troops, the miscreants fought back, resulting in a scuffle and a deep cut on one of the BSF jawans.
In response, the BSF fired two rounds from a Pump Action Gun to deter the miscreants, but they continued their assault. Eventually, the miscreants fled back to Bangladesh, and the body of one of them identified as Kamal Hussain from Sadar Dakshin in Comilla district, was found about 30 meters inside Indian territory.
An FIR has been lodged with the Jatrapur police station for further legal action. The BSF held a Sector Commander level meeting with its counterpart BGB to protest against the assault and illegal activities by the miscreants.
