NE Chess Championship to be held in Tripura
Achiever officials, chess players felicitated at special meeting

AGARTALA, November 05 2023: Next North Eastern Chess Championship will be held in Tripura, according to a senior official of the Tripura State Chess Association. He said preparation for the event slated for 2024 were discussed at a special general meeting under the stewardship of the executive committee held here Sunday.
The official said the Vice President of the Asian Chess Federation Bharat Singh Chauhan has expected an invitation to grace the annual prize distribution ceremony to be held here on December 10. Patron of the Tripura Chess Association will also be present.
The special general meeting felicitated General Secretary of Tripura State Chess Association Deepak Saha who as first from the state has been appointed as the Manager of the Indian contingent to join the World Youth Chess Championship to take place in Italy from November 12 to 25.
Tripura State Association President Prashant Kundu was elected as the Vice-President of North Eastern Forum. He was also felicitated.
Tripura association informed Arshia Das became the first woman player from this state to win the WCM title. Aasya Das won the WCM title after a long pause after Prasenjit Dutta won the master title on FIDE.
Aradhya Das was congratulated for upcoming third in National School Chess with a great show.
