NATIONAL, February 06, 2025: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a fresh advisory for compliance of Prevention of Insults to the National Honor Act 1971 and the Flag Code of India 2002. It reminded that the Indian National Flag represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India.
It is the symbol of our national pride and there is universal affection and respect for the National Flag, the advisory stated. “However, a perceptible lack of awareness is often noticed among people as well as the organisations and agencies of the government in regard to the laws, practices and conventions that apply to display of the National Flag”, it warned.
The Ministry of Home Affairs demanded strict compliance of the provisions of The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1971 and the Flag Code of India 2002 (as amended in 2021 & 2022). The latest memo of the MHA is available on the Home Affairs Ministry’s website, www.mha.gov.in
