AGARTALA, November 04, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha declined Tuesday to comment on the recent announcement by three regional parties, including his alliance partner Tipra Motha regarding their merger into a single political entity. He stressed that organisations have the right to make their own decisions while asserting the BJP's commitment to the welfare and development of indigenous people.
Earlier, notable political leaders from the North East declared their intention to unify under a new political banner called "One North East." In a joint statement signed in New Delhi by leaders, including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya, said they are committed to forming a united political front that reflects the collective aspirations of the region's populace.
They acknowledged that, for too long, they have addressed common issues from disparate platforms and recognized the strength of unity. The leaders pledged to uphold the ideals of historical figures that fought for the region's identity while planning to establish a committee to determine the future structure and action of the new political entity.
The leaders said their initiative aims to ensure that the voices of the North East people are effectively represented and respected at the national level, marking the beginning of a unified political effort for the region.
