9 students to join national-level competitions in multiple disciplines

GUWAHATI, November 02 2023: Modern English School, Kahilipara, is elated to announce an extraordinary feat achieved by its exceptional young athletes at the prestigious CBSE Far East Zone Championship recently conducted from October 12 2023. Nine of our students have not only clinched gold and silver medals but have also earned the prestigious opportunity to represent the school at the upcoming National-level Taekwondo, Yoga, Shooting and Athletic competitions.
Under the vibrant guidance of their coaches, the students of Modern English School displayed remarkable prowess and sportsmanship, securing their positions as Far East Zone champions. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the sports.
The Principal of Modern English School Jonali Das, expressed her pride in the school's athletes and their incredible accomplishments, stating, "Our students have shown an unwavering commitment to their sports, and their hard work has paid off brilliantly. They are not only champions in their respective fields but also ambassadors of our school's values of excellence, perseverance, and teamwork."
- In the Taekwondo competition: Krish Pawe, class 12, won the gold medal in under 17 years boys below 51 kg; Raksha Boruah, class 11, won a silver medal in under 17 years girls below 55 kg; Garima Das, of class 10 won a silver medal in under 17 years girls below 52 kg; Kaadambaree Das of class 6 won bronze medal in under 14 years girls below 37 kg and Debobrat Patir of class 12 got bronze medal in under 19 years boys below 68 kg category. Among the winners, Krish Pawe, Raksha Boruah and Garima Das are selected for the upcoming National tournament.
- Yoga competition: Nandika Hazra of class 4, Tina Kalita of class 5 and Srimanti Paul and Ayushi Das of class 6 were first runner-up and will be participating in the National level championship.
- Shooting competition: Angel Mahanta of class 10 won 2nd position in the 10 meter air pistol category and will participate in the National level championship.
- Athletics competition: Akash Kalita of class 8 won the gold medal in the 100 meter and 200 meter race and will also participate in the National level championship.
- Chess competition: Ishanvi Saikia, class 6; Khushi Jaiswal, class 8; Bairavi Boro, class 5; and Sharmistha Saha, class 8, won the bronze medal under 14 girls’ category. They will not be participating in the National level championship.
