Meeting to review Status of all criminal cases

KOHIMA, May 23 2023: A meeting to review the Status of all criminal cases registered during the last General Election 2023 to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was held in the office chamber of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar and participated by State Police Nodal Officer and IG Range Limasunep Jamir.
Officers of the CEO’s Office Nagaland R. Khezhie, Additional CEO, Awa Lorin, Joint CEO, Sharon Longchari, Joint CEO, Alila Chang, Deputy CEO and Toshimeren, Assistant CEO were also in attendance.
The main purpose of the meeting was not only to review the Status of Election-related criminal cases but to also ensure that active follow-up action continues on such cases even after the completion of the election process. It was discussed that the Election Commission of India also keeps a close tab on any such cases registered to ensure that follow-up action is taken up to act as a deterrent for any future election and poll-related criminal activities.
The State Police Nodal officer highlighted that the total Election related criminal cases registered in the State during the last General Assembly Election 2023 in Nagaland was 70. The total number of persons arrested was 81, the total persons chargesheet was seven and the cases in which investigations are going on is 61.
All the districts would be regularly sending monthly reports on the Status of action taken report of criminal cases registered during the last General Election 2023 to be reviewed by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer and Election Commission of India.
