Major power outage at the London Heathrow Airport
Flight operations severely affected, Air India suffered badly

GLOBAL, March 21, 2025: After a major power outage, operations at London Heathrow Airport have been suspended until 2359 hours (local time) on March 21. Air India has reported disruptions in its operations to and from London Heathrow Airport with one flight returning to Mumbai and another diverting to Frankfurt.
Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, the two carriers with direct connectivity between India and London Heathrow, have also canceled their flights. The temporary suspension of operations at the airport has affected hundreds of passengers, including those from Indian cities.
Flights to London Gatwick remain unaffected. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, Air India has six flights to London Heathrow on March 21 with a total of 1,843 seats. British Airways has eight daily flights between India and London Heathrow, including three from Mumbai and two from Delhi.
Virgin Atlantic has five daily flights to London Heathrow from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
