REGIONAL, July 31, 2025: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma has accepted the letter of merger submitted by Congress MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh, who has decided to join the ruling National People's Party (NPP). The letter formally accepted by the Assembly was found valid and in compliance with the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
The Speaker confirmed the decision and will reflect it in the Assembly Bulletin. Lyngdoh has also withdrawn his Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed before the Hon'ble High Court of Meghalaya, which sought the disqualification of three legislators under anti-defection law.
