SHILLONG, June 21 2022: International Yoga Day 2022 was observed with full zeal and enthusiasm at the NEC Secretariat Shillong under the guidance of Adviser (T&C) Naveen Kumar Tuesday. Senior officials Adviser Horticulture Allied Mangsatabam Iboyaima Meitei, Director Planning Satyen Lama, Director IPR Ajay Parashar and other office staffs took part in the yoga session.
A pledge was also read out on the occasion.
An essay writing completion on the topic ‘Benefits of yoga in today’s time’ was held yesterday on the eve of ‘International Yoga Day’ which saw the participation of officers and staff of NEC.
This is the 8th edition of the International Yoga day and though the same was celebrated on a low key for the last two years, owing to the pandemic, it was celebrated all over the north east this year. Governors, Chief Ministers, Minister of State Union Government, Ministers, officials, Defence Personnel and public across the eight states of North East participated in high number.
The initiative started by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and later proclaimed by the United Nations, June 21st is observed as the “International Yoga Day” all over the country. This initiative is basically to promote healthy and active lifestyle amongst the masses and gradually it has gained immense popularity. The theme for this year was “Yoga for Humanity”.
