Int Certificate programme on "Heritage and Indigenous Textiles"

NATIONAL, August 18, 2025: The Ministry of Textiles is launching a two-week International Certificate programme on "Heritage and Indigenous Textiles" in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs. The event organised by the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), Varanasi, is hosting 26 participants from 16 countries from August 18 to 29 2025.
The programme, which is the first of its kind, aims to explore India's rich cultural heritage and the role of the Indian handloom sector in the global textile market. The course that has trained over 2,00,000 officials from many countries will focus on Indian handloom traditions their significance, techniques, preservation and their pivotal role in global trade.
The IIHT, established in 1956, aims to train technical personnel in modern methods and latest developments in the handloom field. The course aims to provide an immersive experience of 'Banaras' and Indian textile traditions.
