INSPACe grants license to SpaceX-run Starlink
To provide space-based internet services in India

NATIONAL, July 09, 2025: India's space regulator INSPACe has granted a license to SpaceX-run Starlink to provide space-based internet services in the country. The license allows Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited, New Delhi (SSCPL) to provision the Starlink Gen1 constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, which can provide approximately 600-GBPS throughput over India.
The Starlink Gen1 Constellation consisting of 4,408 satellites orbiting Earth at altitudes between 540 km and 570 km is capable of providing approximately 600-GBPS throughput over India. Starlink has been targeting the Indian market since 2022 for commercial operations.
It became the third company after Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio Satellite Communications to obtain a license from the Department of Telecommunications to provide satellite internet services in India.
