700 candidates from across the North Eastern region registered

SHILLONG, October 28, 2025: India’s largest airline conducted a campus recruitment drive (walk-in interview) for the position of Cabin Crew in collaboration with the Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI) at its training centre located within the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
700 candidates from across the North Eastern region registered online for the recruitment, out of which 242 candidates appeared for the interview and assessment rounds. After a rigorous selection process, four candidates were successfully chosen for appointment.
This recruitment event marked a for Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong, a leading institution offering short-term vocational and career-oriented training, as it hosted a direct Cabin Crew recruitment drive for the first time since its inception. The Centre has been consistently working to equip young people with employable skills — most recently by distributing sewing machines to encourage self-employment among its trainees.
Earlier in September 2025, ESTI and Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on employment-linked professional training and recruitment in the fields of Aviation, Hospitality, and Luxury International Cruise Lines. The partnership seeks to empower the educated yet unemployed youth of Meghalaya and the entire North East region through globally relevant skill development and placement programs.
This Cabin Crew recruitment was the first drive organized under the new MoU, with more domestic and international employment opportunities scheduled in the coming months. Through this collaboration, ESTI will continue to train aspiring youth at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong, preparing them for gainful employment in over 20 countries worldwide.
Speaking to the media, Fr Michael Makri, Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre, expressed both pride and reflection:
“It is disheartening to learn that around 700 students applied for this interview, yet only four were selected. Many candidates, especially from Meghalaya, did not meet the required height, while others faced health or communication challenges, particularly in Hindi and English. I encourage those who were not selected to come to our centre for further training and preparation.”
Fr Makri also extended heartfelt gratitude to IndiGo Airlines and Emporium Skills Training Institute for their partnership and continued support in creating pathways for the youth of Meghalaya and the North East to succeed in the aviation and service industries.
