Honeymoon murder mystery cracked, wife main “planner”

All accused persons, including victim's wife, arrested in joint raids

NATIONAL, June 09, 2025: Meghalaya police on Monday cracked the murder mystery of Indore based transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi with the arrests of all accused persons, including the victim’s spouse, Sonam. The detainees were produced in courts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh respectively, which sent them to the transit custody of the Meghalaya police.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, 24-year-old wife of Raja, allegedly planned the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in the scenic town of Sohra in Meghalaya, state director general of police I Nongrang said Monday, while revealing details of the chilling murder that triggered manhunt in three states.

The couple were married in Indore on May 11 last.

The Meghalaya police will take the accused persons with them on the basis of transit custody and will complete interrogation within a court-stipulated remand period before their fresh production in court. 

Four men, including the alleged lover of Sonam, were arrested in joint raids while the woman surfaced in a rural district in Uttar Pradesh. The murder of Raja Raghuvanshi and the reported disappearance of his wife over the past two weeks shook the nation.
