REGIONAL, June 08, 2024: The Ka Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep, a federation of clan elders within the Khasi community, is currently focused on countering anti-social activities in the Khasi Jaintia Hills. This organisation was established in 2019 under HS Shylla and has played a significant role in devising constitutional and legal mechanisms through the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.

The Synjuk has also established units in various Jaintia Hills and recently inaugurated a branch in the area. In addition, the Synjuk has passed a resolution urging the Jaintia Hills District to propose legislation to safeguard the community from unfair practices by non-local entities. 

Further, the Synjuk has elected office bearers, including Khroo Lamsalanki Pariat as president, Pyrkhat Shylla and D Donstan Khonglah as vice presidents, Hamkhian Dkhar as General Secretary, Gremalin H Bareh as Assistant Secretary, Abutt Nelson Muksor as Treasurer and Standbyme Sari as Sedia Secretary.

The Jaintia Hills branch is set to confirm the establishment of the branch and the newly elected office bearers on June 27, 2024.
