Chief Minister said central government provided significant assistance

AGARTALA, August 23, 2024: The Tripura government Friday praised the central government for their swift response to the devastating floods in the state. The central government has provided significant assistance, demonstrating their commitment to the people of the state.
The unprecedented floods have resulted in 24 deaths, two injuries and two missing persons. The damage caused by the floods includes physical infrastructure such as roads, power, buildings as well as agriculture crops, houses, fishery ponds and livestock.
To provide shelter to the affected population, 558 relief camps have been opened by the district administrations since August 19. 1.28 lakh maroon people have taken shelter in the makeshift camps.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha conducted an aerial survey and visited the flood-affected areas of Khilpara in Gomati and Bokafa in South Tripura districts, accompanied by senior officials of the state administration. He is closely monitoring the rescue, relief and response operations, and maintaining constant communication with the central government to ensure effective crisis management.
Dr Saha acknowledged the crucial role played by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in mobilising resources and staying informed about the situation. The central government has sanctioned ₹40 crore for the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to expedite relief operations.
They have also deployed 11 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, three Indian Army columns and four Indian Air Force helicopters to provide critical assistance in rescue and relief operations bringing hope and relief to the affected people.
On behalf of the people of Tripura, Chief Minister expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and the central government for their prompt action and firm commitment during this challenging time.
