First phase of Lok Sabha polls held peacefully in Tripura
Byelection to Ramnagar assembly constituency also conducted

AGARTALA, April 19, 2024: Polling was conducted peacefully during the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Tripura Friday. Byelection to Ramnagar assembly constituency was also held on the day.
Preliminary assessment reveals more than 75 percent voters were polled in West Tripura Lok Sabha and Ramnagar where byelection was simultaneously held.
Elections were by and large peaceful except minor incidents. Opposition CPI(M) and Congress both fighting the polls under INDIA block alleged mass rigging and malpractices.
They demanded countermand of the polls and fresh conduct of elections. Sources said CPI(M) could not have their polling agents in most of the booths in Ramnagar.
