The CEC led full bench completed visit to NE states

KOHIMA, January 14 2023: With a visit to Nagaland, the full bench the Election Commission of India led by the CEC Rajiv Kumar completed visit in three assembly election bound states in the northeast. The team started with Tripura followed by Meghalaya to oversee poll preparedness and pass necessary instructions to hold free, fair and peaceful elections in the region.
CEC Rajiv Kumar and accompanying ECs Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel addressed a news conference in Kohima Saturday. The panel highlighted various initiatives and programmes taken up by the Commission to conduct elections with the highest standard of transparency, accountability and credibility.
The media persons were also briefed on the steps and measures initiated by the Commission to promote clean and fair election. It also appealed to all the eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.
Nagaland has 13,09,651 electors, where 6,53,616 are male while 6,56,035 are female. Of them 6,970 are PwD electors, 1,675 centenarian (100+) electors and 30,049 first time voters (18-19).
Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar and senior officials of the commission were present at the news conference.
