Emerging e-commerce marketplaces to boost the toy Industry

NEW DELHI, June 12, 2024: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has organised a workshop in New Delhi to support the growing Indian toy sector. The workshop aimed to lay the roadmap for further growth, scale domestic consumption, and upskill the workforce.
The focus was on how emerging opportunities from the e-commerce marketplace can be leveraged to bolster the growth of the Indian Toy Industry. The Indian government has identified the sector as a champion sector with a long-term vision to create a global market for 'Made in India' toys.
The success of the Indian toy industry reflects enhanced exports, increased manufacturing robustness, and reduced import dependence. The industry has expanded its global presence to over 100 countries, including the USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and China.
The workshop aimed to help domestic toy manufacturers understand the nuances of online selling, enabling a step further towards building a 'Toyconomy'.
