DoT NE LSA to hold next virtual meet on PM-WANI

Aim is to increase awareness among prospective stakeholders

REGIONAL, March 08, 2024: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), North East Licensed Service Areas (LSA) will hold its next virtual meeting on Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) at 11:30 am on March 14. The aim is to increase awareness on the same among the existing and prospective stakeholders. 

DoT’s PM-WANI is an initiative that has been approved by the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for proliferation of broadband through public Wi-Fi networks.

The framework of the scheme facilitates ease of doing business and encourages local shops and small establishments to become Wi-Fi Hotspot providers - Public Data Office (PDO). The local shops and small establishments as PDOs may earn extra income from selling internet without any requirement of license, registration and/or any fees to DoT.

Interested existing/prospective PDOs/PDO Aggregators/citizens may submit their willingness to join the virtual meet, along with their suggestions/feedback at [email protected] in this regard. Link for the meeting will be shared with all the interested participants in due course.
