NEW DELHI, October 14 2020: Culture, Diversity and Vivacity of North East to provide a catapulting impetus to ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’, experts opined in a Webinar organised by Press Information Bureau, Guwahati on the topic here today. Experts from Industry, entrepreneurial fraternity, Government sector along with academicians deliberated and discussed about the potential of North East from socio-economic growth, development and policy perspective.
Padma Shri YesheDorjeeThongchi, who is from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and is also an Advisory Board Member, Sahitya Akademi, opined that North-East to be the Engine of India’s growth and development. With reference to culture and diversity of North East, Shri Thongchi said that Human Resource Development and education of the North East youth is going to drive and propel the growth and socio-economic development. He said that whether it is Hydro Power Projects or Connectivity and Infrastructure projects, North East is experiencing a rapid growth. Shri Thongchi said that Culture and development of North East has to be seen in context of growth potential and its immense capability. In this context, he opined that constant encouragement and invitation for young Start-ups from various places India to come to Northeast and try their fortune in the huge potentials of the region is a WIN-WIN scenario for all in the value chain of development.
Padma Shri NareshChanderLal said that numerous Government initiatives for encouragement to Tourism Sector, Entrepreneurship in North East along with Cultural and promoting the North East Diversity especially emphasis on culinary, tourism and entrepreneurship are success stories for growth and development of the North East region. He said that Better Infrastructure and Connectivity Projects in North East such as Road and Flight Connectivity are encouraging. Shri Lal said huge potential are there in various sectors such as Sports, Youth and Culture in North East and this has to be leveraged for ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’ and development of the Country.
Anup Hazarika, Theatre and Drama personality from Guwahati, Assam said huge progress has been made in the arena of culture. Shri Hazarika said that theatre of the region depicts the cultural attitude of the place and people of North East. He said the cultural vivacity and diversity is an add-on to the success of the region.
Dr Rajesh Bhowmik, Associate Professor and HoD, Department of Fine Arts and Prof Sunil Kalai, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tripura University (A Central University), Suryamaninagar, Tripura said that the students and HR potential of North East is the main talent which has to be leveraged for growth and development.
LR Sailo, Regional Director, IIMC, Aizawl and Shri Prempal Sharma, former JS, Ministry of Railways said that communication and connectivity of the region with other places of the country has a pivotal role in the development. They said that role of media and awareness should leverage the potential strengthens for the betterment of society and people of North East.
Sanyuk Banerjee, Advocate, District Judges Court, PurboBardhamaan and Abdur Rahman Mallick, Advocate, Delhi High Court said that growth story of the North East is very encouraging and the development of the region is concomitant with the mantra of ‘Transformation by Transportation’ and ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’.
The webinar was managed and coordinated by Shri SamratBandopadhyay, Joint Director, PIB, Guwahati. The interactive Webinar had enthusiastic participation of students, academicians and Industry fraternity of Assam and North East. PallavChakravorty, Deputy Director, PIB welcomed the experts as the webinar delved into details on the various aspects of the topic such as Culture, Infrastructure and socio-economic development of North East, among others. Along with students, eminent journalists and other government senior officials from Doordarshan Guwahati, Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati, All India Radio Guwahati were also present on the occasion.
