NEW DELHI, August 08 2020 (HS): Informing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that 196 doctors across the country have succumbed to Corona virus so far while performing their duties, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) urged him to provide more facilities to protect doctors from becoming prey to Covid-19.
This came on the day India recorded more than 60,000 Corona virus cases for the second consecutive day Saturday.
With this the total number of Corona infected toll reached to 20.88 lakh. In what can be seen as a further move towards Unlocking, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed OCI cardholders to enter India who belong to countries with which "air bubble" arrangements have been finalised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
According to officials in MHA, "Indian citizens have also been allowed to travel to such countries on any type of visa. Other foreigners from these countries have also been allowed to avail Indian visa facility for business, medical and employment purposes."
Meanwhile the 3.5 million ASHA health workers across the country embarked on a two-day strike from Friday to secure better wages and proper protective equipment. India is the third nation to cross two million figures of Covid-19 cases, lagging behind only the United States and Brazil.
