CM Deb graces Madhavpur Ghed Mela in Gujarat

AGARTALA, April 11 2022: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb accompanied by his spouse attended the historic Madhavpur Ghed Mela in Gujarat Monday. The event is attributed as an ambiance of cultures of the west and northeast India.
The festival celebrates the immortal journey of Rukmini from remote Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat with Lord Krishna. 
Chief Minister was accorded a grand reception after he reached Porbandar enroute Madhavpur. “Thankful to local leaders and administration for a warm welcome”, he wrote in his social media page.
He later said that he was blessed to participate in the historic Madhavpur Ghed Mela in Gujarat.
The Madhavpur Mela connects to the Mishmi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. The Mishmi Tribe traces its ancestry to the legendary King Bhishmak and through him to his daughter Rukmini and Lord Krishna.
The festival celebrates the immortal journey which Rukmini undertook from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat with Lord Krishna. Bhismaknagar, located near Roing in the lower Dibang Valley district, also finds mention in Kalika Purana.
