AGARTALA, March 09, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha criticised the CPI(M) and Congress for their 35 years of 'misrule' claiming that they had destroyed the state. He praised the BJP for bringing real freedom to the people of Tripura since forming the government in 2018.
Dr Saha made these remarks while addressing a large gathering at Swami Vivekananda Maidan here Sunday to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the BJP led government in Tripura. The event was also attended by BJP National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
"I would like to express my gratitude to BJP National President JP Nadda for joining us today. I would also like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose guidance has been instrumental in the progress of our state government. I am also grateful to Home Minister Amit Shah”, Chief Minister said.
He added that with the blessings of PM Modi, we have been able to break free from the 35-year-long misrule of the CPI(M) regime.
The CPI(M) is known for political terror, murder, violence and unrest. We have also experienced the rule of the Congress, which was no different from the CPI(M).
He alleged the previous regimes were notorious for corruption and violence. We have seen how they governed the state and now they are talking about democracy.
He questioned where was democracy during their rule? Two journalists were killed during the CPI(M) regime, and the CBI is currently investigating the matter.
“I am hopeful that the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice. It was during their time that the riots of the 1980s took place," said Dr Saha.
Chief Minister went on to say over the past seven years the state budget has doubled, with Rs 7,000 crore allocated for infrastructure development. This has attracted investors and improved the economy, leading to increase per capita income and GSDP.
The law and order situation has improved, and the communication system has developed. Peace, and tranquillity have been restored in the Northeast and the HIRA model has been implemented for improved highways, internet connectivity, railways, and airways. A 33% reservation for women in government jobs has been implemented and steps are being taken to create 8,000 more jobs.
