AGARTALA, July 22, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Tuesday highlighted the importance of collaboration in a democracy during a ceremony marking the establishment of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and its relocation from Ujjayanta Palace. He stated that the assembly is a space where both the opposition and the treasury benches must work together for the benefit of the public.
Dr Saha noted that this event was the first of its kind celebrating 62 years since the Assembly’s formation on July 1, 1963. He stressed the responsibilities of state’s 60 MLAs in advocating for public welfare, maintaining the decorum of the Assembly and the vital role officials play in this democratic process.
He proposed inviting former Speakers and Chief Ministers to future celebrations.
He also recalled the Assembly's historical journey and planted a tree during the event. He asserted the relationship between humans and trees noting that nature teaches interdependence and that public representatives should work on environmental preservation.
He highlighted the benefits of trees, such as oxygen production and aligned this with Prime Minister Modi's vision for a carbon-neutral India. The event included various notable attendees including veteran MLAs from the assembly.
