BENGALURU, Aug 01 2020 (HS): The Indian Super League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is preparing to start its training camp for the 13th edition of the tournament from early August.
This year's IPL was scheduled to begin on March 29, but the tournament was postponed due to a coronavirus epidemic.
Recently IPL Governing Council President Brijesh Patel confirmed that the 13th edition of the mega event will begin in the UAE on 19 September.
CSK players have been asked to report to Chennai first, after which they will leave for Dubai via charter flight only after approval from the Government of India.
The IPL Governing Council will meet on August 2 to finalize the schedule and other major arrangements for the tournament. In addition, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be formally established in the meeting to secure eight teams for 51 days at three locations.
CSK was the first team to begin its training camp in March, before the coronovirus epidemic. Senior players like Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu started their training in December 2019.
