CAB: Bandh in Tripura tribal autonomous council areas

AGARTALA, December 2, 2019: Tripraland State Party (TSP) does not carry much weight in indigenous politics of Tripura, but like other regional groups it’s trying to spread wings over proposed contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
The party enforced a general strike in areas within jurisdiction of the Tripura tribal autonomous district council to protest the bill.
The call however has evoked mixed response.
Vice President of TSP Sonacharan Debbarma however claimed 12 hour bandh was a success. Security tightened in the council areas in wake of the strike call.
Meanwhile Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) organised squatting stirs at various places in state and also at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to register its stiff opposition to the CAB.
