Brief tension between groups over cattle slaughter

AGARTALA, July 21 2021: Police had to intervene to defuse tension over an incident of cow slaughter on occasion of Eid-ul-Adha in Teliamura police area Wednesday. The incident was reported from Jaruilang Para under Chakma Ghat Gram Panchayat.

Police said they have successfully reduced tension and restored order as well as amity between the groups. Community leaders also helped out police in their efforts.

Muslim residents in the area agreed upon a proposal to slaughter cattle elsewhere during next Eid-ul-Adha occasion. Local indigenous community appreciated the decision

It may be mentioned that Tripura has a tradition of preserving communal harmony.
