NEW DELHI, May 09 2020: ASSOCHAM is hosting a webinar on Vision Meghalaya, Vision North East, India Bangladesh partnership that is Monday, May 11 from 2.20 PM IST. The webinar will be addressed by Dr Jitendra Singh, DoNER Minister and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India to share his vision along with Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma, Government of Meghalaya and Commerce Minister, Tipu Munshi, Government of Bangladesh with industry members. 
Meghalaya under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma is fast emerging as a state which huge potential and is committed to a significant relationship with Bangladesh. Commerce Minister, Government of Bangladesh, Tipu Munshi shall be gracing the program.

North East of India is gateway to South East Asia and hold huge business and international trade potential. The region has about 5300 km of international border and any strategy of infrastructure and development of the region necessarily requires collaboration and partnership with neighbouring countries.
Meghalaya located in the north east shares its border with Bangladesh and the state has abundant deposits of coal, limestone, granite, quartz, kaolin feldspar, industrial clay and uranium. It has a hydroelectric power potential of approximately 3,000 MW. Of the 6,000 medicinal plants in India, 834 plants including the famous Himalayan Yew are found in Meghalaya.
The state is home to 8 of the top 20 medicinal plants that are traded in India and are in high demand. Agro-processing, horticulture, tourism, minerals, electronics and IT have been identified as thrust sectors for development and promotion.
