Army and Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur Police
Resulted in apprehension of 9 insurgent cadres from groups

REGIONAL, September 23, 2025: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur Police conducted intelligence-driven joint operations from September 15 to 21 across multiple districts in Manipur resulting in the apprehension of nine insurgent cadres from various groups and the recovery of 36 weapons, narcotics and war-like stores.
Major operations included the arrest of a suspected insurgent associated with SOREPA in Tengnoupal on 15 September and the subsequent capture of a cadre from the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) / People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Thoubal alongside the confiscation of incriminating materials and vehicles.
On 17 September, the joint forces recovered four guns in Kangpokpi and seized 105.25 kg of opium in Chandel District. Additional seizures on 18 September included various firearms and ammunition in Kangpokpi alongside further apprehensions in Imphal East District targeting the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) and the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak.
By 19 September, operations in Churachandpur and Tamenglong yielded further caches of rifles and ammunition. These operations underscore the security forces' dedication to ensuring peace and stability in the region, the office of Defence PRO in northeast said in a statement Tuesday.
