Amit Shah to chair 68th plenary session of NEC

AGARTALA, September 6, 2019: The 68th Plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) will be held in Guwahati under the chairmanship of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is also Chairman of NEC. The Plenary session is slated to for September 8 and 9.
Dr Jitendra Singh, minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) & Vice Chairman NEC, would also attend the occasion.
NEC consists of the Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight north eastern states and other designated members. Senior officials from the states and key Ministries of the Government of India are also expected to be present.
During the two-day session, there will be presentations from the Ministry of DoNER, NEC, the state governments as well as a few selected Central Ministries on various developmental issues which are critical to the region.
The Plenary is expected to deliberate on progress of ongoing projects, outlays by central ministries in the North Eastern Region and plans for the period beyond March 2020 when the Fourteenth Finance Commission term comes to an end.
