Amit Shah hails NDRF’s 'Vijay' expedition for Mount Manirang
Said such campaign rise efficacy and habit of accomplishing goals

NEW DELHI, June 29, 2024: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, welcomed the second mountaineering expedition of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 'Vijay' that sets to climb 21,625 feet high Mount Manirang. He on Saturday attended a Photo and Disaster Management Equipment Gallery, which showcased state-of-the-art equipment and technologies used by NDRF rescuers during the operation.
He hailed the NDRF jawans for their successful expedition, stating that such campaign increases efficiency and inculcates the habit of accomplishing goals.
Amit Shah also highlighted India's shift towards a zero casualty approach for disaster management under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the country's adoption of best practices from around the world to deal with disasters, including training, raising morale, forming the force, providing adequate numbers, ensuring personnel availability and providing advance information for disaster assessment.
Home Minister spoke on the need to align the force with the goal of Zero Casualty in the face of increasing dangers due to climate change, such as avalanches, landslides, floods, and storms. He suggested increasing efficiency in various areas and conducting experiments worldwide to save forests and prevent fires on the ground.
Amit Shah emphasized the importance of a zero casualty approach to disaster management in India and the need for a first-rate disaster management force.
The Modi government is providing scientific support to the NDRF through Dial 112, Mausam, Damini, Meghdoot, mobile applications, and early warning systems, Shah asserted. The government also decided to introduce a team of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to participate in all outdoor and indoor games in national and international level sports competitions, aiming to introduce and stabilize sports as a culture in CAPFs.
