AGARTALA, June 01, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Sunday said that the state government is fully prepared to tackle the flood situation. He said all officials from concerned departments are working on the ground and keeping a close eye on the flood situation.
Dr Saha made this comment after visiting several flood-affected areas in West Tripura. The Chief Minister interacted with the flood-affected people and took stock of the relief measures during his visit to shelter camps.
The Chief Minister visited flood-hit areas including Chandrapur, Pratapgarh and Bardowali along the banks of the Howrah River in Agartala. He also inspected the overall management of seven relief camps and interacted with the residents.
“There has been massive rainfall, not only in Tripura but also in Assam and other parts of the Northeast, which has caused extensive damage. Despite heavy rainfall, the water in Agartala has receded, indicating that the drainage system is functioning well,” Dr Saha said.
He further said that 24 relief camps have been opened for flood victims, with proper food and other arrangements.
“Medical teams have been instructed to maintain sanitation. NDRF, SDRF, Apada Mitra volunteers, Fire and Emergency Service and Tripura Police are all working on the ground. Government officials, Agartala Municipal Corporation staff and volunteers are working tirelessly,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged people in flood-prone areas to shift to safer locations to avoid mishaps. He added that announcements have been made, and all water pumps in Agartala city are functioning actively to drain out logged water.
During the visit, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, Secretary of Revenue Department Brijesh Pandey and DM West Tripura Dr Vishal Kumar were present.
