Alarm over rising cases of Conjunctivitis (Eye Flu)

Suspension of physical classes in schools in two districts

KOHIMA, August 21 2023: The Nagaland government has suspended physical classes in schools in two districts in response to the rising cases of Conjunctivitis (Eye Flu). The school children of these areas are found to be infected with this eye flu ailment.

The districts are Dimapur and Niuland.

An official order read “considering the seriousness of the infection's spread and the rising number of cases, it was decided to suspend physical classes in schools from August 21 to 26 to contain the spread of infection among students.”

The government has advised the school authorities to explore alternative options, such as online classes, to ensure that students can continue their education during this period.
