NATIONAL, February 09, 2025: The central government launched The 'Haj Suvidha App' to enhance the pilgrimage services in Saudi Arabia. The app provides information on training content, accommodation, flight details, baggage information, an emergency helpline, grievance redress, feedback, language translation and miscellaneous information related to the pilgrimage.
It also provides an administrative interface for government officials to manage Haj operations in Saudi Arabia. Over 78,000 out of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India registered on the app during Haj 2024, handling over 8,500 grievances and 2,100 SOS calls.
The QR code mechanism of baggage identification reduced missing baggage cases. The Indian government established several temporary healthcare facilities in Saudi Arabia during the Haj period to ensure good quality healthcare services, including for the elderly.
Medical teams conducted daily visits to the buildings accommodating pilgrims, ensuring routine health monitoring and immediate response to any emerging medical concerns. Four medical centres in Makkah and one in Madinah, along with 17 dispensaries, were operational 24/7, providing free consultations, medications, and treatment.
A fleet of 24 ambulances was deployed strategically across Makkah, Madinah,\ and other key locations to ensure swift response during emergencies. Indian translators were deployed at Saudi hospitals to ensure effective communication and support.
