42 Panchayats in Tripura have achieved Grade-A ratings

AGARTALA, September 01, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has stated that 42 Panchayats in the state have achieved Grade-A ratings in the Panchayat Advancement Index, while no Panchayat from Tripura received Grade-D. He urged Panchayat representatives to work with accountability to strengthen the Panchayats and stressed the importance of rural governance in strengthening the state and the country.
Dr Saha was speaking at the Two-Day Panchayati Raj Capacity Building Programme at the State Panchayat Resource Centre in AD Nagar Monday.
The Chief Minister asserted the need for transparency and the implementation of various schemes through Panchayats as they are elected by the common people and are working towards rural economic development. He said Tripura ranked 7th in the Panchayat Devolution Index, up from 13th in 2015.
He highlighted the need for the government to focus on rural development including drinking water, education, health and other sectors.
