REGIONAL, September 19, 2024: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Thursday said Tripura has experienced a significant increase in tourist footfall in recent years. In the 2023-24 fiscal the state welcomed 4.70 lakh domestic tourists and over 75,000 international tourists.
Saha credited this growth to the efforts of the BJP government, which has been promoting the state's hidden treasures and implementing the Tripura Tourism Policy to attract investors. One such hidden gem, the Sulma Dongur Tuisoi Waterfall, located 130 km from Agartala, has seen a surge in tourist activity since former Indian cricket team captain Saurav Ganguly became the brand ambassador for Tripura Tourism.
“Sulma Dongur Tuisoi Waterfall at Kamalpur of Dhalai district in Tripura is an enchanting blend of natural beauty and serenity. As part of our initiatives to make this spot more attractive, inaugurated new infrastructure developed by the Tourism department”, he penned in his social media page.
The Chief Minister also asserted the importance of utilising social media and brand ambassadors to promote Tripura Tourism. He stressed the need for continued efforts to increase awareness of the state.
Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, plans are in place for infrastructure development at popular tourist destinations such as Chabimura, Sepahijala, Neer Mahal, Ujjayanta Palace, Dumboor and Unakoti.
Saha highlighted the significance of treating tourists with politeness, ensuring their safety, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The PRASAD scheme is currently renovating the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, and the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme has approved the development of tourist spots in Agartala and Unakoti.
