38 passengers killed, 17 injured as bus plunges in gorge
PM condoled loss of lives in J&K, announced ex-gratia from PMNRF

NATIONAL, November 15 2023: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives due to a bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday. He announced an ex-gratia from the PMNRF of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for those sustained injuries.
At least 38 passengers died after a bus carrying them plunged around 200 meters down a steep slope near the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. 17 were injured, some of them critically, in the accident.
The tragic incident occurred when the bus travelling from Kishtwar to Jammu skidded veered off the road and plunged down the steep slope near Trungal in the Assar area.
The Prime Minister in X posted -
“The bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir is distressing. My condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest.
An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. Rs 50,000 would be given to the injured.”
