Soccer, volleyball star of yesteryears passed away

AGARTALA, June 10 2021: Eminent football and volleyball player of Tripura Hemendra Sen has passed away. He was an alumnus of Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan here.  

He exhibited skill in both soccer and volleyball, and was a designated volleyball coach at the Netaji Subhas Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC) in Agartala. Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan Alumni mourned his demise.

School veterans said Hemendra Sen along with fellow schoolmates of repute Rabi Das, Bishnu Datta, Dulal Chakraborty and Pranjit Sen had made the school champion in Inter School Football League. They recollected the time school league used to draw full capacity spectators.

These famed players also got selected to represent Tripura XI against visiting teams like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
