NESO’s CAB warning worries BJP

GUWAHATI, April 09, 2019: Storm over Citizenship Amendment Bill has returned to northeast India after BJP announces its enforcement if voted to power in ensuing general elections. BJP’s in its manifesto aka ‘Sankalpa Patra’ has promised to get the bill passed by government at the centre.
At its release programme in party headquarters at New Delhi, home minister Rajnath Singh spoke on subjects that are connected with his ministry. He gave a steadfast statement on complete implementation of CAB as part of party’s resolve to safeguard interests of religious minorities in neighbouring countries.
Singh at the same time tried to give solace to natives of northeastern region with assurance to preserve culture, rights, heritage and identity of the natives. He however did not say if the CAB will be implemented elsewhere but not in northeast.
NESO, a consortium of different students groups in northeast, reacted sharply and strongly to criticise the election declaration of BJP and warned under no circumstance this would be acceptable to people of the region.
Incidentally recent unrest in whole of region was fallout of NESO’s stiff opposition to CAB. Situation in places became volatile and even resulted in casualties.
NESO has again threatened to resume stir against CAB. It said it would ‘not allow any internal and external aggression against people’.
The return of CAB issue within a short span of time created an uneasy situation for BJP which is eyeing to take out at least 20 of 24 Lok Sabha seats in northeast.
