61 model and 67 women-run polling stations are salient features

AGARTALA, April 25, 2024: The election for the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat will take place Friday, along with other states, in the second phase of national elections in India. Polling personnel have taken charge of their assigned polling stations with EVMs and electronic gadgets.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the East Tripura (ST) constituency, which is spread over five districts. The Election Department has urged voters to participate in the second phase of polling with the same enthusiasm as they did in the first phase in the West Tripura seat on April 19.
East Tripura has 1,664 polling stations across 30 assembly constituencies. Among these, there are 61 model polling stations, 67 women-run polling stations, 30 Divyangjan-run polling stations and 30 youth-run polling stations.
A total of 16,260 differently-abled voters will cast their votes in this parliamentary constituency. Special arrangements have also been made for the disabled and senior citizens, with polling stations set up on the first floor and a separate line for advance voting.
Wheelchairs have been made available, and volunteers have been arranged to assist voters on the polling day. Voter Information Slips in Braille have been provided for visually impaired voters, and Braille has been incorporated into the EVMs.
To ensure a smooth polling process, the election commission has deputed two General Observers, two Police Observers and one Expenditure Observer for the East Tripura Lok Sabha Constituency bsides 1,365 micro-observers.
Security has been strengthened with the deployment of CAPF and CRPF personnel.
