GUWAHATI, April 07, 2020: COVID-19 appeared in the shape of pandemic and spreading rapidly globally, therefore, Govt. of India declared Lockdown to save our citizens from this pathetic situation caused due to deadly CORONA Virus. It is true that due to lockdown, it is caused of very difficulties in daily life, especially for the poor section of peoples based on their daily wages.
Taking share of their hardship and present situation, Voice of Environment (Youth Environmental Organisation) in association with ‘Wings of Youth’ and ‘Anurtha’ extended their helping hands towards the needy people at Badarpur, Karimganj District of Assam. The team together took an initiative Tuesday at Badarpur to distribute food items, mainly grocery essential items among the needy people.
The initiative was led by Gaurab Roy, youth active member of organisation Voice of Environment, Total 7 members of these three NGOs participated during the activity. They didn’t create any gathering to distribute the foods rather they visited door to door to distribute the items as per the instructions and guidelines given by administration.
The team reached out to about 70 families at different places at Badarpur town, Karimganj, Assam. All of the members maintained proper hygiene and social distancing norms while distributing the goods, as directed by Government. The team also conveyed the family members to stay at home, not to go outside unless and until necessary work. Their motive was to belief that no one should sleep hunger during this heavy crisis caused by COVID-19 and lockdown.
One of the Senior Member cum Environmentalist, Moharana Choudhury stated that, “This is a global crisis and a big challenge to humanity as well, so all of us must fight back together and break the chain by staying safe at home. If we work together then together we can make difference. We should keep supporting each other morally and mentally”.
The team has distributed the essential items like 1. Rice- 2.5 kg 2. Daal- 500 gm 3. Oil- 200 ml 4. Soyabin-100 gm 5. Biscuit- 1 packet 6. Potato- 1 Kg 7. Haldi, Chili, Jeera powder- 1 packet each 8. Moori- 200 gm. The team welcomes all the citizens of India to stand by the poor section of peoples in this crisis. They believe that their small initiative may inspire others so that others can also perform such kind of responsibilities.
