AGARTALA, May 02, 2024: Bhabaranjan Debnath is now able to walk without support, ending 18 years of incapacity, thanks to the help of former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. In 2006, a year after his marriage, Bhavaranjan, a tailor by profession and a resident of South Charilam in Sepahijala district, lost his right leg in a road accident.
This unexpected incident caused the whole family to lose their footing. The only means of mobility for Bhabaranjan was an artificial leg or a wheelchair.
At a recent election campaigning, he met Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP nominee for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, in Charilam on April 11 and shared his problem with him. Deb, standing next to him, arranged for him to go to Delhi for an artificial leg replacement at his own expense.
The surgery was successfully performed at the Royal Retreat in West Bihar, Delhi. Bhabaranjan can now walk as easily as before. After losing his leg in the accident, the whole family was completely disoriented due to the uncertainty of income.
To support the family, Bhabaranjan's wife started working as a Beedi maker. Their only daughter is currently studying in twelfth grade at Charilam Higher Secondary School.
On Thursday, Bhabaranjan and his family arrived in Agartala, grateful to former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for his help. He is now able to walk without any assistance and is ready to start the battle of life again with new expectations.
He expressed his gratitude to Biplab Kumar Deb and stated that he will now be able to earn a living again.
