Nagaland issues caution on human organ research

KOHIMA, November 14, 2019: Nagaland government has cautioned on conducting research on human subjects for medical purpose without prior knowledge of the health department. In a notification it claimed to have observed unauthorised study, research and survey involving human subjects.
“Such exercises without the approval and knowledge of competent authority may lead to legal and ethical implications”, it warned adding that for such acts the Department of Health & Family Welfare will not be responsible.
It advised that due official procedure has to be maintained and the approval of the Ethics Committee of the Department of Health and Family Welfare is mandatory.
Failing which disciplinary and legal action will be taken, it warned all concerned with a request for compliance of the order.
