AGARTALA, December 29, 2024: The Tripura government is working towards making women in rural areas self-reliant under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government is attaching importance towards complete development of women and improving their socio-economic conditions, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha after listening to Prime Minister’s weekly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
Addressing a programme he said initiatives have been taken to make the youth community self-reliant with about 60% of the youth in the state between the ages of 15 and 35 being considered. The number of self-help groups has increased, with about four lakh women from all over the state joining them.
He asserted that the government is also working towards empowering women and improving their socio-economic conditions. Over 13,000 government jobs have been provided since the government came to power with all jobs given priority to transparency through examinations. Dr Saha announced that offers for Group D posts will be made soon and that the DA of employees has been increased without agitation.
He added that the 72nd plenary session of the North East Council highlighted the various possibilities of the state, including industrial possibilities such as bamboo, rubber, agar, tea and tourism. The rehabilitation of Bru refugees was agreed upon after the government came to power with a package of over 800 crore rupees given for their proper rehabilitation, he stated.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also participated in a winter clothing distribution program in the AD Nagar area in his Bardowali Assembly Constituency, handing over blankets to the poor citizens of the area.
