Write shop on development strategy for northeastern states
Will cover key sectors of the rural economy including connectivity

REGIONAL, November 12, 2024: The NIRDPR-NERC off-campus Write Shop on Development Strategy for the North Eastern states held its inaugural programme at the State Institute of Rural Development in Kohima Tuesay. During the event, Assistant Professor Dr MK Shrivastava highlighted the various challenges faced by the Northeast region such as weak infrastructure, limited market access, social inequalities and conflicts like Manipur.
He stressed the importance of sustainable development in promoting economic growth, resource efficiency and community resilience. The main objectives of the write shop are to formulate a strategy for rural development, identify competitive advantages, set priorities, assess risk factors and collaborate with institutions to enhance rural connectivity and improve the living standards of the people.
The write shop will cover key sectors of the rural economy, including connectivity, infrastructure, health and nutrition, skills development, employment, rural industries, banking and tourism.
